| Over the holiday break I got an iPhone finally. I have to say, it has got to be one of the biggest breakthroughs in portable devices. All the sleek design aside, what single handedly makes it the most amazing phone on the market is the App Store. The wide spread creativity and availability of free and cheap applications for the iPhone thus far I am sure... is only the tip of the ice berg of what can be done. Few examples: I can now listen to any NPR radio stream, includded my much beloved KQED. I can use "Urban Spoon" that figures out my GPS location and recomends resturants to me, gives me reviews, and then directions on how to get there. "Shazam" allows me to hold my iPhone up to a music source, tell me what song it is, and allow me to buy it directly from the iTunes store. And those three applications are completely free! I can't wait to see what comes next in 2009, the iPhones ability to merge internet, gps, video, audio, gaming, and photography nothing short of astounds me, we are living some serious Star Trek shit here. |
