Spectacular Stopmotion!

This short entitled "Verdi -Travia - Choeur Bohemiens" is one of the most amazing pieces of stop motion animation I have ever seen. Not only is it incredibly fluid, the the squash and stretch is mind blowing. This is incredibly difficult effect to pull in clay-mation. Also keep in mind stop motion is animated straight ahead, meaning one frame directly after the other. In 2d or 3d, we animate key frames, which are sorta like "goal" poses we want to hit. We get those poses right, work out the timing, and then fill in the frames in between. You can't do that stop motion, the animator(s) had to know exactly what each frame would look like, and the timing before they even put hand to clay. Pure animation mastery! Every time I watch this I have an animation-gasm, I need a cigarette.

Robot Chicken Wars

It's a trap! Wait, no, it's Star Wars! So a few months back Seth Green came to the studio and showed us an upcoming episode of Robot Chicken that is entirely centered around star wars. The trailer for the episode is finally online!
I have to say that it was one of the smartest and funniest parodies I have ever seen, can't wait for it to officially air, this is a must see! |

Family Guy Meets Gene Kelly

Here's a cool little piece of animation history getting updated. Family guy did a segment where they rotoscoped Stewie on top of Jerry from an old Gene Kelly movie, they even remastered the color! Nice to see Family guy giving a nod to an animation classic!
